Martin de Porres (1579–1639) was a Peruvian Dominican friar known for his humility, charity, and care for the poor, the sick, and animals. The son of a Spanish nobleman and a formerly enslaved Black woman, he devoted his life to serving others despite facing racial discrimination. He is the patron saint of racial harmony, social justice, and those who care for the sick.
